At Mocha Mondo, we provide great quality coffee. To ensure you get the freshest beans, we always roast to order. Our single origin coffees are carefully sourced from around the world to provide a good choice for all tastes. Our coffee packs come in 228g, 454g & 1Kg sizes, plus we offer taster packs (70g ground for cafetière).
THE MOCHA MONDO TIMELINE
Since 2010, Mocha Mondo has been serving seriously good coffee to the good folk of Northumberland. Starting out by serving coffee from the back of a van then progressing to a trailer at Alnmouth railway station, Mocha Mondo fuelled the early morning commuters and thirsty rail travellers passing through Alnmouth station with superb coffee.
2010: ALNMOUTH TRAIN STATION
The coffee was great and loved by many but Mocha Mondo strived for more! So in 2013, Mocha Mondo became a limited company and started roasting it's own beans to deliver those perfect cups of coffee.
2013: ROASTING OUR OWN COFFEE
The coffee business was thriving. However, Mocha Mondo wanted to get more great coffee to the people and visitors of Northumberland... Seizing a fantastic opportunity, it moved the takeaway coffee and roastery business to a 'pod' at Amble Harbour Village, located by the idyllic Amble harbour. Pod 15 remains our main retail shop for great take-away and our range of single-origin coffees so you can enjoy a seriously good cuppa at home too!
2015: THE OPENING OF OUR POD
Mocha Mondo then further expanded into mail order in July 2017 with a brand new website! This expansion of the business included the opening of a new purpose-built roasting facility at Coquet Enterprise Park, Amble.
2017: MOCHA MONDO GOES
DIGITAL AND OPENS A ROASTERY
Mocha Mondo branches out into handmade fudge, starting the Northumberland Fudge Company in 2020. A fudge room is built at the roastery unit in Amble to produce delicious, melt in your mouth fudge in a wide range of both classic and unique flavours, some of our most popular flavours being; caramel mocha, chocolate marshmallow, caramel Biscoff and puffin poo! 2021: THE AILLIO BULLET
With over 10 years of coffee roasting experience, we've always been innovators on how we roast our coffee and we thought we knew all roasting methods, until we spotted the Bullet made by Aillio. We were mesmerised by the unique, compact design of the micro roaster, which created incredible coffee at speed as if the coffee had been made in a high class, conventional sized roaster. After using it to roast our own coffee and loving the results, we partnered up with Aillio to become their main UK retailer for the Aillio Bullet Micro Roaster. 2022: THE NUT ROASTER
In 2022 we introduced The Nut Roaster, which produces delicious peanut, cashew, almond and hazelnut butters. We roast the best quality nuts for maximum flavour at our unit in Amble, then grind them down into creamy nut butters with absolutely nothing else added, just pure 100% nut. With the addition of our new business we opened a brand new retail pod at Amble Harbour Village where you can stock up on all four of our nut butters as well as a wide range of Northumberland fudge, delicious traybakes, cakes and fresh coffee. We will soon be introducing peanuts with a variety of toppings, roasted fresh at the pod in our iconic replica of a 1938 Chicago peanut roaster. MOCHA MONDO NOW
Throughout the various changes and growth Mocha Mondo has seen in the last 12 years, our goal remains the same, to serve the folk of Northumberland seriously good coffee, now with the addition of tasty handmade fudge and pure nut butters. Our products are enjoyed by many across the UK with the help of our wholesalers; cafes, gift shops, holiday homes to name a few. Mocha Mondo now has a team of 13 working to serve seriously good coffee, and we are excited about our continued growth and innovations, we can't wait to see how our timeline continues.
OUR COMMITMENT TO REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We are often asked about the environmental impact of our business and particularly the take away element where there is considerable waste. Well the simple answer is that we are doing all we can to reduce any negative environmental impact. We are proud to say that we have minimal plastic waste but are still striving to reduce the plastic in the packaging element of the business (both in suppliers' products and our own packaging).
Below is a list of the items where we have been able to change to reduce plastic usage and most recently, we have moved to fully compostable paper cups.
Straws: We have oxo-biodegradable straws, which means it will degrade and biodegrade in the open environment
Cup Lids: Our cup lids are PLA (polylactic acid - made from renewable resources such as corn starch, tapioca roots and sugarcane)
'Plastic' Cups: Our 'plastic' cups are made from CPLA - a proprietary combination of PLA, chalk and other biodegradable additives
Paper Cups: Made from compostable materials
Wooden Stirrers: From sustainable forest sources
Office Coffee Machine Filters: Organic and unbleached
Office Coffee Sachets: Fully compostable
We are always happy to serve our customer's drinks in their own reusable cups, and will top up water bottles for free. Our water is reverse-osmosis processed, which means it has no limescale or chlorine, and tastes amazing.
